QMS ISO 9001:2000
The Company’s Quality Management System certified by ISO 9001:1994 Standards in September 2000, after which it decided to upgrade to ISO 9001:2000 Standards. This certification was obtained in May 2002.
The main objectives of the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System is the identification and reaction to the requirements and wishes of customers and other interested parties (coworkers, suppliers, shareholders and the community as a whole) and that the organization achieves, maintains and improves its performance and general capacity.
Móveis Rudnick has adopted a quality policy that will SUPPLY SOLUTIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTS IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO SATISFY CUSTOMERS, EMPLOYEES AND SHAREHOLDERS, and all the organization’s actions and decisions are guided by this policy.
5S´s Program
The 5S´s Program is no more than the 5 senses (Selection, Set in order, Shine - cleanliness, Standardize and Sustain) which, if carried out daily by everyone in the company makes for an agreeable workplace with a sense of well being amongst coworkers and better quality and productivity.
Continuous Improvement Groups
With the continuous improvement groups we enable our coworkers to take part in the day-to-day management.
The employees join in small group activities two to four times per month to discuss improvements to their work places and seek joint solutions to problems within their sectors.
Besides fostering growth, this and employee development, this program supplies an opportunity for the individual to express opinions and points of view on company activities, as well as bonding with supervisors and managers, since problems and improvement opportunities come to be shared.
Customer/Supplier Philosophy
Another program that is being deployed is the Customer/Supplier Philosophy, in which, besides the basic importance of outside customers, we emphasize the need for our coworkers to perceive the previous process in production as a supplier and the following process as a customer. This philosophy enables the establishment of quality characteristics for the entry and exit of each process, in which every party tries to meet its internal customer’s expectations, shipping onwards, to the following process, goods that comply with the specified quality characteristics.
Environmental Programs
Water Resource Management
The company has Effluent Treatment Stations – ETS's at each of its 5 plants, in order to treat the waste from painting cabins and glue dispensing machines in a closed circuit, i.e., the effluents, once treated, return to the process, thereby reducing the environmental impact and the need to appropriate a scarce and valuable resource.
Solid Residue Treatment
- Education and awareness campaigns to separate trash according to characteristics.
- Sorting and selling recyclables (ordinary paper, metal, plastic, disposables).
- Garbage dumpsters with identification as to type of material, strategically distributed throughout the plants.
- Sawdust, veneer scrap, particleboard, and wood is used for boiler fuel.
- Sorting of industrial residues Class I and II for industrial landfills that have been formally licensed by environmental organs.
- Móveis Rudnick S.A. also operates a reforestation unit with 466,557 trees in a 3,941,600 m² area;
- The main raw materials used in the company are MDF and particleboard, which comes from renewableforestry products (Eliotii pine and Eucalyptus);
- The painting cabins have water curtains that keep down pollution. Water based paints are widely used. The exhausters have sleeve filters and the boilers have multi-cyclone filters to avoid particle and soot emissions.
