The primary objective of the management system implemented by Rudnick is to identify and meet the needs and expectations of all those involved in the company’s day-to-day activities. An example of this is the company’s policy of quality aimed at OFFERING SOLUTIONS IN ENVIRONMENTS AIMED AT INCREASING THE SATISFACTION OF CLIENTS, EMPLOYEES AND SHAREHOLDERS’.
This system allows for competitive advantage to be achieved in an efficient manner, with the focus on the organization’s performance and global capabilities.
5S program
The 5S program consists of five aspects (selection, organization, cleaning, health and self-discipline) that, when met daily by all the company’s employees, will create a more enjoyable and productive working environment.
GROUPS OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
With the Groups of Continuous Improvement, the employees have the opportunity to be a part of everyday life at Rudnick. Together, they perform activities, discuss eventual improvements in the workplace and look for joint solutions to increase the quality of life and productivity in their respective sectors.
In addition to promoting the progress and development of employees, the program is an open channel through which they may express their opinions and views about the company’s activities. It also brings supervisors and managers into closer contact with the employees, as the employees may share and discuss problems and the best ways to solve them.
CLIENT-SUPPLIER PHILOSOPHY
Under the Client-Supplier Philosophy program, all Rudnick employees are clients and suppliers at the same time. In other words: Rudnick operates by sectors and each sector performs another stage towards the finalizing of the product. For example, those working in the assembly sector are, in truth, a client of another Rudnick employee that works in the inventory sector. The inventory needs to provide all the materials necessary to allow the assembly sector to do its job. In turn, at another stage, the assembly sector will be the supplier of another employee in the packing sector. And so on and so forth. This way, being clients and suppliers at the same time, Rudnick employees are able to improve the quality of all the company’s processes and consequently the quality of the final product.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS
Water resource management
The company has Sewage Treatment Stations (ETE) that are used to treat effluents from painting cabins and gluing machines. That is, after being treated, the effluents return to the process, thus reducing the environmental impacts as well as the need for the capturing of natural resources.
Solid waste management
• Education and awareness campaigns for waste separation according to its nature;
• Separation and sale of recyclable material; (ordinary papers, disposables, metals and plastics);
• Waste bins containing identification for the different types of material, strategically distributed throughout the industrial plants;
• Use of scraps sheets of metal, agglomerates, timber and saw dust as fuel for boilers;
• Separation and destination of class-I and II industrial waste for authorized industrial embankments licensed by environmental bodies.
Other environmental actions
• Rudnick also has a reforestation area containing 575,000 pine trees covering an area of 4,400,000 m².
• The main raw materials used by the company include MDF and MDP, whose main input in manufacturing originate from renewable pine and eucalyptus forests;
• Painting cabins are provided with water curtains to minimize pollution. Painting materials that have water as a solvent are also widely used. Exhausters are equipped with bag filters, and boilers are equipped with multicyclone filters to prevent the emission of particulates and soot.
Rudnick’s production facilities are prepared to produce high-quality furniture using raw materials such as solid timber, boards (MDP and MDF) and timber sheets. The coating may be laminated, printed, low pressure laminate, stained or not with the application of a varnish (polyurethane or ultraviolet), which gives a varied uniform bright finish.
The machinery used is upt o date with the most modern technology available, which combines flexibility with high production capacity and meets the quality requirements specified by the consumer market.
All of Rudnick’s processes follow specific procedures regulated by special parameters. This is documented by the fact that all the measuring instruments used to ensure and evidence the product quality are calibrated and controlled by a certified company accredited by INMETRO and RBC (Brazilian Calibration Network). This way, clients’ expectations of quality are met.
